I came across Stephen at the BTN summit in 2015 where I had the pleasure to sit through his talk on mindset. It was quite relieving to hear somebody take this approach as I found this approach is something that the industry tends to lack in. After the talk I utilised some of the techniques discussed with some of my clients who I felt would benefit most (as well as myself) and they noticed differences in personal stress levels as well as productivity. I would highly recommend Stephens work as a valuable tool to utilise as part of your daily routine and not just something that you would suggest your client base to take up.
When I last competed I utilised the meditation technique that consisted of focusing solely on your breaths and counting to 10 breaths before starting again. In the past I have let adrenaline get the better of me resulting in gassing really quickly or not performing the way I know I can. I found that using this allows me to take control of my body and emotions and not let myself get over worked up and helps me keep a level head.
